About Us

Dooryard Gardens Landscaping is your local, Belleville landscaping company. We have a small team of 4 talented individuals - each passionate about making your vision come to life!

Our incredible owner, Rose Schmidt, began this company in 1998. Since the beginning, her goal has been to soften and beautify outdoor living spaces. She continues to do that throughout PEC, Belleville, Brighton and beyond!

Rose lives on 56 acres in Prince Edward County! Here, she strives for self-sufficiency on her organic farm.

On her own, she grows about 200 flats of perennials and annuals! We use these gorgeous blooms within our commercial planting projects.

Our Process

When you work with Dooryard Gardens Landscaping, you get a team of professionals. We take the time to understand your vision, create a unique solution, and do it with precision.

Below is the process you can expect when working with our team:

Step 1: Consultation

The first step of any project is to meet with you to discuss your vision.

During this meeting, we are careful to,

a) Understand exactly what you’re looking for,

b) Communicate how we can help bring your vision to life.

Step 2: Design & Quote

After we’ve met to discuss your vision, it’s time for the design process.

During this phase, we create,

a) A hand or computer-drawn design,

b) A course of action, and

c) A quotation for the work.

We’ll then provide you with these details to confirm the project.

Step 3: Project Start

Once confirmed, we can begin!

Depending on the work, the project can last from an hour to a few days. We'll be sure to outline the estimated timeframe within your quotation.

Step 4: Completion

Lastly, we present the completed project to you - ensuring it meets your standards.

Where Does The Name ‘Dooryard’ Come From?

'Dooryard' is an old county term. It describes a small flowerbed or herb garden next to a kitchen. This garden was typically where the farmer's wife grew herbs or flowers for cutting.
